2018 Entrepreneur of the Year, Scalable Venture
We recently had a chance to catch up with Marcia Fournier and ask her a few questions about Bioarray Genetics Inc.’s progress since being recognized as 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year: Scalable Venture. Here’s what she said.
How has your business progressed since you won the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year: Scalable Venture?
We progressed from virtual technology to product development and most recently reached regulatory approval for our first oncology diagnostic product in the U.S. However the company’s Board of Directors decided to close the doors due to funding challenges.
What was the impact to you and/or your business, if any, in being named Venture of the Year: Pre-Revenue?
Being the entrepreneur of the year was highly impactful for the business and for me personally because it provided an endorsement from the industry to the quality of work we have done in the company.
Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently while you were developing your business?
Keeping flexibility while delivering milestones is essential for a startup company to evolved and react to market changes how maintaining that mentality at the Board of Directors level after multiple rounds of financing can be tricky.
What aspects or resources of the CT entrepreneurial ecosystem have helped your business the most?
CT ecosystem brings an amazing network of entrepreneurs and mentors. People and programs such as CT Next, Connecticut Innovations, and the UCONN Technology Incubation Program were amazing in helping us go through the different phases of the company.
Looking ahead, what are the next major milestones for your business?
For me personally is a process of transforming adversities into an opportunity to bring the lessons I learned at Bioarry Genetics to my next endeavor.
Keep up the great work, Marcia and team!
