Tell us about your community building activities in 2020?

Served as Co-Chair for the Amistad Center for Arts & Culture’s Juneteenth, lifting up and acknowledging this important holiday to honor African American trailblazers in our communities. As Leadership Greater Hartford’s Board Chair, led strategies for offering programs to diverse leaders. For United Way’s Power of the Purse, and Red, White, and Chocolate proceeds provided support for thousands of women to participate and create budgets, save money, and reduce debt for their families.

What community building goals did you accomplish or milestones did you hit in 2020?

For United Way Women United’s Red, White and Chocolate, The Amistad Center for Arts & Culture’s Juneteenth, and Leadership Greater Hartford’s Polaris awards, innovatively transformed in-person events to engaging virtual events to honor community heroes, and raise vital resources for organizational impact while exceeding fundraising goals.

Nominator Justification

Tisa plays a pivotal role helping enterprises in her community, applying her skills to scale-up organizations. Notable initiatives: Worked with United Way Women United to forge a financial literacy program that empowers underserved women & children. Co-chaired The Amistad Center for Arts & Culture’s Juneteenth event significantly increasing organization revenue. Led Leadership Greater Hartford’s Board and strategy to develop diverse leaders and build a more vibrant and equitable local community.
