Tell us about your community building activities in 2020?

With the support of many family and friends the Millennial Slicers of Greater Hartford began on May 5th, 2020. The primary goal is to gather young working professionals and have them connect through the game of golf. We have then since hosted weekly league rounds (Keney Park - every Tuesday), women's golf practices, women's golf clinics, coed clinics, helped many millennials learn the game of golf and hosted a league championship where we raised over $500 dollars for The First Tee of Connecticut

What community building goals did you accomplish or milestones did you hit in 2020?

Through building this golf community we were able to introduce the game of golf to millennials from all over the Greater Hartford region. We were able to acquire over 10 local sponsorships for our league championship and achieved our goals of engaging in our community more. Our first league round started with 16 players and by the end of the summer we had over 50 active members. These members connected through the game of golf but most importantly gave back to the community as best they could.

Nominator Justification

Sadie Martinez and Alejandro Tobon created a golf league and brand Millennial Slicers in 2020 that brought over 150 golfers together for weekly matches and hosted a very successful first annual charity tournament for The First Tee.
