Part of our mission is to reduce the presence of racism and false ideologies through Social Reconstructionism in the form of teaching the world the history of Ancient African civilizations. Starting with Kemet/Kush and the Nile Valley Contributions. An idea suggested by Jane Elliott, an American diversity educator, known for her "Blue eyes/Brown eyes" exercise. Kemet was the African nation responsible for the Nile Valley Contributions, in present times Kemet is called Egypt.

Every shirt sold 8020 EMPYRE will donate $5 to Casel Social & Emotional Learning ProgramWe have donated $432 to the Casel Social and Emotional Learning Program.SEL programs show 11% increase in test scores. Helps to close the achievement gap and decreases anti-social behavior by 10%.

Nominator Justification

Black owned, woman owned, lgbt owned. She built it by herself with her labor as capital. Her brand 8020 EMPYRE is teaching kids about Ancient African Civilization as a effort to reverse false ideologies that black people were only slaves. Gov. Ned Lamont recently announced that he passed a law requiring all ct schools to offer an elective teaching African and Latino studies in schools. 8020 EMPYRE helped make that happen. Katrina also donates to the Casel Social and Emotional Learning program.
