Release by Ka'Ran creates truly natural skin care products without harmful parabens and preservatives
Tell us about the entrepreneurial milestones you accomplished?
I started Release by Ka'Ran in 2018 to fill a void in the market for truly natural skin care products. To date I have had the pleasure of creating hand crafted products for thousands of customers. I am honored to have been featured as one of the Six Small Black Owned Businesses To Shop in Connecticut; an American Express featured small business and a featured Etsy Black Owned Business. I am proud to say with the help of my community/village Release by Ka'Ran has grown to become a household name.
What type of entrepreneur are you?
Main Street - local business focus
What CT entrepreneur ecosystem resources have helped you succeed?
I have had the privilege in participating in local community give backs for organizations such as EJ's Heart Inc and The President's Motorcycle Club. Through these organizations I donated products to not only be distributed to the community at no cost, but also to be raffled as a fund raiser. It is my goal for 2021 (Q1) to create a drive where I can distribute skin care products to some of CT's most vulnerable residents.
Release by Ka'Ran is the brain child of Bridgeport resident Ka'Ran Housey. During Covid, Ka'Ran, like many others struggled financially even losing her main employment. As the single mother of 2 wonderful boys, Ka'Ran used this as a spring to go full throttle with her business. Her hand crafted line of bath, body, and other hygiene products are loved by many. In 2019 her nephew, Nazear Housey, battled stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. RBK released a product line just for financial support for him.
