Tell us about the entrepreneurial milestones you accomplished in 2019 (<500 characters) e.g., patents received, growth rate, and successful MVP, trial, or exit, etc…
In less than one year, I opened up two coding schools. The Coder School Farmington opened in October of 2018. The Coder School Glastonbury opened up in September of 2019. I knew there was a need for the demand of coding but did not realize how large the need was until the Farmington school opened. Being a business owner for the first time, I had to learn a lot on my own about different platforms, finances, accounting, management, marketing, and hiring. My biggest accomplishment is opening up two schools in less than one year without knowing anything about operating a business. More importantly the students enjoy their time at the school, they are all progressing and learning. We receive compliments from parents everyday about how much their student enjoys coming to the school. I have created a mini technology hub for students to help foster creativity and use their imagination.

Farmington Continuing Education, located in Farmington for all Farmington public schools has been a big factor in the success of the Coder School. The Farmington Continuing Education allows us to teach coding to other Farmington public schools. The students do not need to come to our school, they can stay at their school and we will bring all of our equipment/instructors to them. The FCE also helps market our summer camps and our year round after school coding program. The FCE has played a large role in the success of the Coder School.
What people are saying about Vaishali Shah ...
I nominate Vaishali Shah for the CT entrepreneur's award. She and her husband have brought The Coders School to Farmington CT and in less than a year were able to branch out to Glastonbury. She helped establish this wonderful and thriving business to help children learn how to code and love computer science. My son and many other children are thriving because of her business. She is a wonderful manager and make sure everything is running smoothly. Please consider her for this prestigious award. Thank you Dr Marina Franzoni
