Company/organization description (<500 characters)

Nami Therapeutics Corporation (Nami), incorporated in 2018, is a startup that is developing specifically designed nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery. Based on nanotechnologies invented by the co-founders at UConn and UNC, Nami is currently advancing a tumor-specific radioactive therapy to target peritoneal metastasis of ovarian cancer. Nami’s mission is to bring patients another chance to live a cancer-free life after they have exhausted conventional treatment options. In other words: Nano therapies, mega results.

Tell us about the milestones your venture accomplished in 2019, eg., key team members added, revenue level achieved, major sales made or endorsements received, successful exit, etc... (<500 characters)

Nami’s technology has been continuously supported grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society. In 2019, Nami was awarded a grant from the NIH National Cancer Institute’s highly competitive Phase 1 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. In this funding round, only 13% of submitted applications were successful in receiving funding to commercialize promising technologies. The grant, which will hopefully be followed by a much larger Phase 2 grant, is supporting translational efforts for moving the promising radiotherapeutic nanoparticle technology forward to clinical trials. This is a key milestone toward future commercialization.
