Describe your space (<500 characters)
Our 5,000 sq/ft space is home to over 40 members who represent the Greater New Milford creative economy, with entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and nonprofits. Located on historic Bank Street, our building was built in 1904 and has beautiful large windows, tall tin ceilings, brick walls and plenty of open space. We employ a “work hard, play hard” model. During the day we work, at night we get inspired by workshops, lectures, music performances and pop up shops.
What are the coolest, most popular features of your space? (<500 characters)
Our members love the historic vibe of the space. We like to joke that if you squint just right and look out the window, you'll think you're in Soho in NYC. While people love the physical layout of the space, the most popular feature is the community and collaboration that takes place. The other popular feature is our showcase shelving units, which rotate displays of art, local products from area startups, and other locally-made works. It's all part of our effort to promote and support local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
What impact did your space make in 2019? (<500 characters)
2019 was best in our 3 year history. Membership hit an all-time high, event rentals peaked in 4th quarter. We attracted folks to our space from as far away Pawling, NY and Southbury, CT. Our events attracted thousands in 2019 for our monthly Pop Up Shoppery events, our PERFORMERY musical events, or other lectures, workshop, and performances. We exceeded event rental goals for bridal showers, birthday parties & holiday parties. We announced Twin Star Apothecary was joining our space. We now have a herbal/wellness retail biz within the space, which we think is 100% unique to CT and beyond.
