Since moving to Ridgefield in late August, I have co-organized a successful, impromptu block party; volunteer at my childrens' school; helped with the Tree Festival at the Lounsbury House; and am working on launching a new town/community website for Ridgefield to elevate the modern and the new types of businesses popping up everywhere, especially the home-based. My partner in the venture is actually my [former] competitor. He and I share the same philosophy about coming together to create something better vs. competition. We had similar ideas at the same time a couple of years ago and couldn't figure out how to put them together until now. Community is everything and I think it's something people naturally want.
What community-building goals did you accomplish or milestones did you hit in 2019? (<500 characters)
I finished a 2-year term as the President of the Professional Women in Building Council of Fairfield. We started with 12 and had 74 and counting when I left. To join the council, you had to be a member of the HBRA of Fairfield, and pay extra dues to be on the council. We had women joining the HBRA just so they could serve on the council. I was so proud of the charter and the camaraderie. 12-74 in two years. For me that was huge.
